Average Day In America ADIA Weapons Guide

Melees, shop guns, and free armory loot across Newbury, Fairfield, and Benton.

Weapons

Weapons decide whether Verdania feels like a job simulator or a survival sandbox. Average Day In America lets you fight with world melees, shop firearms, black-market guns, and free armory / house loot. This guide explains what to pick up, where the three shop ecosystems sit, and how to spend money without wasting an EBT day.

Before you buy anything expensive, lock in melee inputs on Controls and keep an ATM habit from How to Make Money.

Weapon sources at a glance

  1. World melees — hammers, bats, knives, tools, and other props found around the map.
  2. Three shop ecosystems — legal / specialty firearm and tool vendors across the towns (including Doug’s in Newbury and Sei’s mountain supply near Benton).
  3. Benton illegal dealer — behind the motel for under-the-table firearms.
  4. Police / sheriff armories and houses — free or low-friction guns and batons if you can access them.

You do not need a maxed loadout to play. A solid world melee plus discipline beats a broke player with an empty rifle.

Melee classes (what you will find)

ADIA melees cluster into practical families:

Light blunt

Examples include Hammer, Baton, Tire Iron, Frying Pan, Pipe, Hatchet. These are common early pickups. They swing well for learning M1 pressure and R heavies without a huge shop bill.

Light bladed

Kitchen Knife, Hunting Knife, Cleaver, Pocket Knife — faster stab-oriented M1 feel. Good for finishing sequences once you can knockdown with heavies.

Heavy blunt

Sledgehammer, Metal Bat, Wooden Bat, Shovel — slower, meaner heavies. Excellent for practicing knockdown routes into Q finishers.

Heavy bladed

Katana-style blades, Machete, Axe — high commitment swings. Pair with block and shove discipline so you are not interrupted mid-animation.

Specialty / other

Spear, Pitchfork, Chainsaw, Pickaxe — niche range or utility. Fairfield players often ask about Jorge and chainsaw access; treat specialty tools as goal items after your ATM buffer is healthy. Mining tools also support the money loops on How to Make Money.

Whatever you hold, the control language stays consistent: M1 swing/stab, R heavy, E light, F shove, C block, Q finish on downed targets. Details: Controls.

Shop guide: the three buying paths

Players shorthand “three shops” for the main purchase ecosystems. Use the map page for navigation, then buy with intent.

Doug’s Verdanian Arms — Newbury (south)

Doug’s is the southern firearms landmark. Come here when you want a legal-ish shopping trip near Newbury PD, the casino/mall area, and other south-side POIs. Bring deposited funds, buy what you will actually use, and leave — standing outside a gun shop advertising wealth is a classic ADIA mistake.

Sei’s Tool & Weapon / Hunting Supply — Benton mountain overlook

Sei’s sits above Benton territory and stocks a mix of rifles, pistols, shotguns, revolvers, plus tools like axes and hunting knives. Some visits include crate-style gambles for rarer long guns. Only crate-spin with ATM surplus, never with undeposted warehouse cash.

Benton illegal dealer — behind the motel

The illegal dealer behind Benton’s motel is the black-market counterweight to clean shopfronts. Expect sketchier vibes, player traffic, and deals that fit crime loadouts. Scout the motel alley with Combat readiness — other players farm this corner too.

Town context for all three: Map of Verdania.

Free and found firearms

Not every gun needs a receipt.

Police / sheriff armories

Newbury Police Station and other PD / sheriff buildings can contain armory loot such as batons, enforcement pistols, and related gear — often behind armory key progression from desks or lockers. Fairfield’s sheriff side follows the same fantasy: risk the station, take the guns, escape before threat and players collapse on you.

Houses and world spawns

Residential loot and world spawns occasionally yield free firearms. Clear rooms carefully; corner campers love quiet houses.

Free guns still need LMB shoot and R reload competence. Empty magazines lose to a shove.

Suggested loadout path

Hour one

  • Grab any light blunt or bat from the world.
  • Do not empty EBT on a vanity rifle.
  • Learn knockdown → Q finish with that melee (Combat).

Early money complete

  • Keep a reliable melee as primary backup.
  • Add a pistol or shotgun from Doug’s, Sei’s, or a successful armory run.
  • Buy lockpicks / dynamite before flex rifles if you care about the Fairfield bank.

Mid session

  • Specialize: long gun for open roads, close shotgun for motel/dealer fights, heavy melee for silent work.
  • Revisit Benton Easy Pawn and shops only with ATM-backed cash.

Melee vs gun — when to use which

SituationPrefer
Close alley / interiorMelee + shove/block
Open street with spaceFirearm
Stealth / quiet takedownMelee finisher path
Armory raid gone loudGun, then melee if rushed
Escaping to ATMWhatever creates space fastest

ADIA rewards hybrids. Pure gun players get rushed. Pure melee players get beamed on long Newbury avenues. Carry both mindsets.

Economy tip: buy after depositing

Shop inventories tempt you into walking out with a $0 ATM and a shiny carbine. Reverse it:

  1. Farm EBT / warehouse / post office.
  2. ATM first.
  3. Withdraw only the purchase amount.
  4. Buy, then leave the district.

That workflow is covered end-to-end in How to Make Money and Getting Started.

Common weapon mistakes

  • Ignoring world melees because they are not “meta.”
  • Standing outside Doug’s or the Benton motel dealer after buying.
  • Reloading in the open because you forgot R is context-sensitive.
  • Bringing an empty gun to a shove fight.
  • Spending heist tool money on a second rifle you cannot control.

Arm yourself like a Verdania regular: loot the world, hit the three shop paths when rich, raid armories when brave, and never forget a melee backup. That is the Average Day In America weapons meta that actually lasts a full session.
