Average Day In America ADIA Controls Guide
Every melee, firearm, and misc input you need to fight and trade in Verdania.
Average Day In America hides a full combat language behind a short Roblox description. If you only remember “click to punch,” you will lose every serious fight in Verdania. This controls guide lists the melee kit, firearm basics, item give, and cash drop commands, then explains when each input matters. Pair it with Combat for technique and Getting Started for the first-hour plan.
ADIA’s official place text highlights the core melee set. Community play adds the deeper tools — grab, stomp, jab — that separate street survivors from free loot.
Melee controls (full list)
| Key | Action | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| M1 (Left click) | Swing / basic attack | Default pressure; weapon type changes swing vs stab feel |
| R | Heavy attack | High impact; can knock down players and NPCs and help stun-lock |
| E | Light attack | Faster poke / kick-style pressure depending on loadout |
| F | Shove / push | Create space, break clinches, peel off chasers |
| C | Block | Soak or deflect incoming swings when timed well |
| Q | Finisher | Attack downed targets; do not waste on standing enemies |
| G | Grab | Usable on downed players or corpses — loot and body control |
| X | Stomp | Extra punish on grounded targets |
| T | Jab | Quick supplemental hit in the melee mix |
Fists, boxing, and karate variants still revolve around left click, heavy, light/kick, block, and finish. Equipped melees follow the same family of inputs: M1 becomes a swing or stab based on the weapon, R remains the heavy, Q remains the downward finish, and C remains block.
Practice order for new players
- M1 until you understand range on your current weapon.
- R heavy until you can land knockdowns on NPCs.
- C block against predictable swings.
- F shove whenever someone sticks to you.
- Q finish only after a knockdown.
- Add G / X / T once the core six keys are muscle memory.
Skipping straight to guns without this foundation is why so many players dump magazines and still lose the street fight. Read Weapons after you can land a heavy-to-finish chain barehanded.
Firearm controls
Firearms keep the mental load low:
- LMB (Left click) — Shoot.
- R — Reload.
That simplicity is deceptive. Ammo type, damage, and hip-fire behavior change by gun, and reload timing is when you get shoved or rushed. Free or found guns can appear in police / sheriff armories and some houses; shop guns come from the three main sources covered on the weapons page (Doug’s in Newbury, Sei’s mountain supply near Benton, and the Benton illegal dealer behind the motel).
Important overlap: R is heavy in melee and reload with a gun out. Know which tool you are holding before you tap R in a panic.
Misc controls players forget
Backspace — give item
Backspace gives your currently held item to the nearest player. Use it for teammates who need a med, a tool, or a shared melee. Do not stand in a crowded spawn with a rare gun equipped and mash Backspace “to see what happens.”
/drop amount — physical cash
Type /drop plus an amount to take out physical cash you can hand to people. This is the intended way to tip, pay, or trade bills in the world. It is also how scammers and robbers separate you from money that never reached an ATM. If you are farming, prefer depositing — see How to Make Money — and only /drop when a trade is intentional.
Interaction key — E (context)
Outside pure melee light attacks, E is also the common interaction key for registers, shop prompts, and world objects. Context matters: in a fight with a melee out, E is your light attack; at a counter, E is how you rob or buy. If an interaction fails, check that you are looking at the prompt and not mid-swing animation.
Movement basics
WASD moves, Space jumps — standard Roblox. ADIA fights are won by facing, spacing, and knockdown discipline, not parkour tech. Vehicles matter more for job routes between Benton, Fairfield, and Newbury than for combat movement; learn those roads on the Map of Verdania.
Threat, cops, and why controls matter
Your HUD tracks money and threat. When threat fills, police become hostile and will chase to kill/arrest you. Bad control habits — spraying guns in town, losing a shove battle in front of PD, finishing someone on the sidewalk — spike threat and turn a duel into a three-way mess. Good control habits let you:
- End a fight with a clean knockdown + Q finish instead of a long street spray.
- Shove off a pusher and reach a vehicle.
- Reload behind cover instead of mid-intersection.
- Grab a corpse and leave before the next squad arrives.
Controls by situation
You are surrounded in melee
Prioritize F shove and C block, then R heavy when you have a frame to swing. Do not Q early. If you knock someone down, finish fast and reposition — standing over a body is how the next player free-hits you.
You knocked someone down
Q finish, optionally X stomp, and G grab if you need the body or loot path. Then move. Lingering is how reverse-sweeps happen.
You have a gun and someone closes distance
Hip-fire panic loses to a shove. Create space with movement, land shots, and reload only when the melee threat is broken. If they reach you, swap mental mode to melee keys immediately.
You want to help a friend
Use Backspace for items and /drop for agreed cash amounts. Meet away from high-traffic Newbury mall/casino areas and Benton motel dealer crowds when possible.
Learning drills (10 minutes)
- Spawn, find a quiet spot, and cycle M1 → R → E → F → C without looking at the keyboard.
- Knock down an NPC and practice Q then X without wasting Q while they stand.
- Equip a found gun, fire a short burst, R reload, then holster/switch and confirm melee R is heavy again.
- Practice one intentional
/dropof a tiny amount, then ATM the rest of your stack. - Drive a short Benton ↔ Fairfield loop so control muscle memory includes vehicle job routes.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Average Day In America questions.
What are the melee controls in Average Day In America?
M1 swing, R heavy, E light, F shove, C block, Q finish, G grab, X stomp, and T jab. Q and G focus on downed targets or corpses.
How do firearms work?
Left click shoots and R reloads. Remember R is also heavy attack in melee, so check which weapon you are holding.
How do I give items or cash to another player?
Press Backspace to give your held item to the nearest player. Use /drop plus an amount to drop physical cash for trades or tips.
Why does my finisher not work?
Q is meant for downed targets. Knock the opponent down with heavies or other pressure first, then finish.
