Average Day In America Getting Started in ADIA
Survive your first hour in Verdania without losing every dollar you earn.
Average Day In America drops you into Verdania with almost no tutorial safety net. The Roblox open-world sandbox from Big/Stuff expects you to learn melee combat, jobs, crime, and town layout the hard way. This getting started guide is the soft landing: what to do after spawn, why ATMs matter more than any gun, which town to visit first, and how to turn your first session into a repeatable money loop.
If you only remember one rule, remember this: cash on hand does not save when you leave. Deposit at an ATM before you quit, die to a wipe, or get jumped. Everything else — weapons, jobs, heists — builds on that habit.
What Average Day In America is
ADIA is an exaggerated American open world. You can work low-paying jobs, rob registers, fight with fists and firearms, drive between towns, and hang out — or get deleted by someone who already knows every alley. The map centers on three towns:
- Newbury (south) — Doug’s firearms shop, casino/mall area, police department.
- Fairfield (west) — bank, post office, Weight Obliterator job, Jorge’s chainsaw connection.
- Benton (northeast, largest) — warehouse job, illegal dealer behind the motel, Easy Pawn, boxing.
Learn the short version on the Map of Verdania, then come back here for the first-hour plan.
First five minutes
- Spawn and orient. Note nearby shops, roads, and any ATM. ATMs often sit near businesses, gas stations, and spawn-adjacent buildings.
- Open the UI. Watch cash and threat. Threat climbing means police attention; treat full threat as “cops want you dead,” not a gentle warning.
- Do not buy a fancy gun yet. You need deposit discipline and a cheap melee first. See Weapons later.
- Skim the melee keys. M1 swing, R heavy, E light, F shove, C block, Q finish. Full list lives on Controls.
- Plan a money stop. Claim or check EBT progress, then aim for Benton Warehouse or a Fairfield delivery job. Details: How to Make Money.
The ATM rule (non-negotiable)
Players lose hours of grinding because they treat wallet cash like banked cash. In ADIA, ATMs are the only reliable way to store money across sessions. If you disconnect with bills in hand, expect that money to vanish. Build a ritual:
- After every job payout, drive or walk to the nearest ATM.
- After looting registers or bodies, deposit before celebrating.
- Before a risky fight or bank attempt, decide how much stays liquid for buys and how much goes into the ATM.
When you are ready for crime payouts and heists, the money guide explains dynamite, lockpicks, and register values — but none of that matters if you skip the ATM. For the full logout ritual (ATM cash plus Fairfield bank item slots at 10 free / 15 VIP), keep ATM Storage open beside this page.
First-hour money loop
A safe early loop looks like this:
- Secure daily EBT. EBT starts around $2000+ per day and can climb toward $5000 with consecutive progress. It is the best passive floor income in the early game.
- Work Benton Warehouse. Sorting boxes pays roughly in the tens of dollars per action and sits in the largest town with other useful POIs nearby.
- Try Fairfield Post Office or Weight Obliterator when you have a vehicle and map sense. Post Office deliveries can pay higher per drop but burn time on long drives; Weight Obliterator is smaller, steadier delivery work.
- ATM immediately. Never “one more robbery” with an undeposted stack unless you accept the risk.
- Pick up a world melee if you see one — hammers, bats, knives, and other props appear around the map. Shop buys can wait.
Expand into mines, registers, and bank heists only after you can survive a chase and still reach an ATM. Full job routes live in How to Make Money; when you are ready for Fairfield glass, vault dynamite, and John Safe, graduate to the dedicated Bank Heist guide.
First combat lesson
ADIA combat punishes button-mashing. Before you challenge players:
- Practice R heavy to knock down or stun.
- Use C block when someone swings first.
- F shove creates space when you are crowded.
- Q finish is for downed targets — do not waste it on standing fighters.
- Save G grab, X stomp, and T jab for the situations covered in Combat.
Firearms use LMB to shoot and R to reload. Free guns sometimes appear in police armories and houses; do not assume every station is empty. When you want armory keys, dresser RNG, Benton apartment tips, and cooldown-aware routes, use Free Guns alongside Weapons before you dump EBT cash into a shop rifle.
Which town should you visit first?
| Goal | Go to | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Guns shop + PD loot | Newbury | Doug’s Verdanian Arms, casino/mall area, police station |
| Bank / post office / deliveries | Fairfield | Bank heist prep, Post Office, Weight Obliterator |
| Jobs + black market + size | Benton | Warehouse, illegal dealer behind motel, Easy Pawn, boxing |
Most beginners should start Benton for warehouse cash, then Fairfield for delivery jobs, and visit Newbury when shopping for legal firearms. The Map of Verdania expands each district.
Inventory and social basics
- Backspace gives your held item to the nearest player — useful for teammates, dangerous around strangers.
/drop+ amount drops physical cash. Only do this when you intend to trade or tip; it is also how you get robbed politely.- Voice and camera support can change with Roblox settings; do not rely on voice for callouts — learn the map instead.
Codes, updates, and beta reality
ADIA can feel unfinished: bugs, balance swings, and possible data wipes are part of the beta-style pitch. That is another reason ATMs matter. After patches, check Codes for free value and Updates for changelog notes that affect jobs or combat.
First-hour checklist
Use this as a session card:
- Found an ATM near spawn or first job
- Claimed / progressed EBT toward the daily cap path
- Completed at least one Benton Warehouse or Fairfield delivery cycle
- Deposited cash before any risky fight
- Memorized M1 / R / E / F / C / Q from Controls
- Located one world melee or armory gun path via Weapons
- Named Newbury, Fairfield, and Benton on the Map of Verdania
- Survived one NPC or low-stakes fight using Combat basics
Common beginner mistakes
- Skipping ATMs after a good EBT or warehouse run.
- Buying expensive guns before learning shove and block.
- Robbing registers in the open with full threat and no escape route.
- Driving randomly instead of learning Benton vs Fairfield landmarks.
- Finishing fights standing — learn knockdowns and Q finishers properly.
- Trusting every player with Backspace trades or
/dropcash in crowded spawns.

Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common Average Day In America questions.
Does money save when I leave Average Day In America?
Only cash deposited in an ATM is reliably stored. Wallet cash can be lost when you leave, so deposit after jobs and before risky fights.
What should I do in my first hour?
Find an ATM, progress EBT, run Benton Warehouse or a Fairfield delivery job, grab a basic melee, and learn core melee keys before PvP.
Which town is best for beginners?
Benton is ideal for warehouse income and size. Fairfield is next for post office and Weight Obliterator work. Visit Newbury when you need Doug's shop or PD routes.
Where can I learn the full control list?
See the Controls guide for melee keys (M1, R, E, F, C, Q, G, X, T), Backspace item give, /drop cash, and firearm shoot/reload.
